Electronic detector cuts off power if there is insufficient
water. Light sequence indicators show: - 'power to unit' -

RCVS Practice Standards: Extracts re Sterilisation;
‘The practice must provide an autoclave, vacuum or non-vacuum or other
recognised sterilisation systems, such as ethylene oxide or dry heat, for
the effective sterilisation of instruments and equipment’;
‘Sterile gloves & gowns must be available’;
‘Sterile packs must be provided in sufficient quantity to meet the
workload of the practice’;
‘Vacuum autoclaves are compulsory for Equine Hospitals and may become
compulsory for Small Animal Hospitals’.
*In conclusion: To sterilise effectively to RCVS Standards, Veterinary
Surgical Practices need vacuum autoclaves.
